IWB HOLSTERS
Custom IWB Holsters for Concealed Carry
Dara Holsters manufactures made-to-order IWB holsters for hundreds of supported handgun models. IWB stands for Inside the Waistband, meaning the holster is worn inside the pants and belt to keep the firearm close to the body for concealed carry.
Each Dara IWB Holster is built around the exact firearm configuration selected on the product page rather than using a universal shell. Depending on the holster, you can configure your setup for standard firearms, optics, threaded barrels and supported weapon-mounted lights.
Dara supports popular handgun families from Glock, SIG Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory, Walther, Staccato, FN, HK, CZ, Canik, Beretta, Shadow Systems and many others.
Which Dara IWB Holster Should You Choose?
The best IWB holster depends on your preferred carry position, firearm and accessories.
Standard IWB Holster
The Standard IWB Holster is designed for traditional inside-the-waistband carry and can be positioned around the strong-side hip or other compatible IWB positions depending on the user's setup.
AIWB Holster
AIWB stands for Appendix Inside the Waistband. The Dara AIWB Holster is designed specifically for appendix carry and incorporates a grip concealment claw to help rotate the firearm grip toward the body and reduce printing.
Light-Bearing IWB and AIWB Holsters
If your firearm has a WML, or Weapon-Mounted Light, you need a holster designed around the exact firearm and light combination. Browse our Light-Bearing IWB Holsters and Light-Bearing AIWB Holsters for supported configurations.
Dara Concealment System
The Dara Concealment System (DCS) is a modular concealment platform for users who want more flexibility from one system. Depending on the configuration, the DCS can be used for AIWB, strong-side IWB, appendix-rig carry with a detachable magazine carrier, or concealable OWB carry.
What Is the Difference Between IWB and AIWB?
All AIWB holsters are IWB holsters, but not all IWB holsters are designed specifically for appendix carry.
IWB describes any holster worn inside the waistband. Depending on the holster design, IWB carry may include strong-side hip, behind-the-hip or appendix positions.
AIWB refers specifically to appendix carry toward the front of the body. Purpose-built AIWB holsters typically use concealment features designed around that position, including a properly located grip concealment claw.

How Dara IWB Holsters Are Built
Dara IWB Holsters are made to order in North Carolina. Instead of manufacturing one generic shell intended to fit several unrelated firearms, we build the holster around the firearm and accessory configuration selected for that order.
Current Dara IWB holster designs include features such as:
- .093" thermoformed Kydex or Boltaron construction, depending on the selected model and material
- Firearm-specific molding
- Adjustable passive retention
- Full trigger guard coverage
- Rounded and polished edges
- Corrosion-resistant hardware
- Optics-ready configurations
- A sight channel designed to accommodate sights up to .5" tall
- Open muzzle clearance for many compatible threaded or extended barrels
- Individual firearm test fitting before shipment

Optics, Tall Sights and Threaded Barrels
Modern concealed-carry pistols are frequently equipped with red-dot optics, taller iron sights and threaded barrels, so current Dara IWB holsters are designed with those configurations in mind.
Our holsters are optic cut where specified, with clearance for most common slide-mounted red-dot sights. Applicable models also offer additional clearance for optics positioned farther forward on the slide.
The sight channel accommodates sights up to .5 inches tall, including many suppressor-height and co-witness sight configurations.
An open-ended muzzle design also allows many compatible threaded or extended barrels to pass through the bottom of the holster rather than requiring a completely different shell solely because the barrel extends beyond the slide.
What Does a Holster Claw Do?
A holster claw, also called a concealment wing or grip concealment claw, uses pressure from the belt to help rotate the firearm grip toward the body and reduce printing.
The claw works best when it is designed as part of the holster. At Dara, claw position is coordinated with the belt attachment, ride height, cant and overall holster geometry so the claw contacts the belt where intended.

Why a Good Gun Belt Matters for IWB Carry
A properly designed holster still depends on the belt supporting it.
A quality gun belt helps stabilize the firearm, control movement and keep the holster positioned consistently throughout the day. This becomes increasingly important with heavier handguns, larger grips and light-bearing setups.
See our EDC Gun Belt options or read our guide explaining why a good gun belt matters.

Why Isn't My Firearm Listed on This Page?
Dara supports too many firearm configurations to display every model directly on the IWB category page.
Instead, choose the holster style you want first, then select your exact firearm from the firearm menu on that individual product page.

Frequently Asked Questions About IWB Holsters
What is an IWB holster?
IWB stands for Inside the Waistband. An IWB holster is worn inside the pants and belt and is commonly used for concealed carry because it keeps most of the firearm below the belt line and close to the body.
What is the difference between IWB and AIWB?
IWB is the general term for carrying a holster inside the waistband. AIWB stands for Appendix Inside the Waistband and specifically describes carrying toward the front of the body. Purpose-built AIWB holsters often use additional concealment features such as a grip concealment claw.
Which Dara IWB holster should I choose?
Choose based on your preferred carry position and firearm configuration. Use a Standard IWB Holster for traditional inside-the-waistband carry, an AIWB Holster for appendix carry, a light-bearing model if your firearm has a weapon-mounted light, or the DCS if you want multiple carry configurations from one modular system.
Are Dara IWB holsters made for specific firearms?
Yes. Dara IWB holsters are made to order for the supported firearm configuration selected on the individual product page rather than using a universal shell.
Are Dara IWB holsters optics ready?
Current Dara holsters are optic cut where specified and accommodate most common slide-mounted red-dot sights. Some configurations also offer deeper optic clearance for optics positioned farther forward on the slide.
Will a Dara IWB holster fit suppressor-height sights?
Current Dara holsters use a sight channel designed to accommodate sights up to .5 inches tall, including many suppressor-height and co-witness sight configurations.
Will a threaded barrel fit a Dara IWB holster?
Many compatible threaded barrels can extend through the holster's open-ended muzzle. Overall compatibility still depends on the firearm and holster configuration.
Do I need a different IWB holster for a weapon-mounted light?
Yes. A weapon-mounted light changes the dimensions of the firearm and requires a holster built around that specific firearm-and-light combination. Select a supported Light-Bearing IWB or AIWB Holster rather than attempting to use a standard non-light-bearing holster.
How do I find an IWB holster for my firearm?
Choose the Dara IWB holster style you want and use the firearm selection menu on that product page. You can also use our Firearms List to find currently supported firearm and weapon-light combinations.
