HK Holster Compatibility Guide
Dara Holsters manufactures firearm-specific holsters for select Heckler & Koch (HK) pistols, including the VP9, VP40, USP and P30 families. Because HK offers several versions of these pistols with different slide lengths, barrel lengths and configurations, it is important to select the correct firearm when ordering.
This guide explains which HK pistols Dara currently supports, available weapon-mounted light configurations, known fit differences and modifications that can affect holster compatibility.
Important: Do not assume that two HK pistols will fit the same holster simply because they are part of the same firearm family. If your exact model or configuration is not listed in the firearm dropdown, contact Dara Holsters before ordering.
HK VP9 Model and Size Comparison
The HK VP9 family includes several pistols with different slide, barrel and overall lengths. These dimensional differences can affect how much of the firearm is enclosed by the holster.

VP9A1 models are intentionally excluded from this table because Dara has not yet confirmed A1-series compatibility with our existing VP9 holsters.
HK VP9 / VP40
Dara offers multiple holster options for the standard HK VP9 and VP40.
Available light-bearing configurations include:

- SureFire X300U-B
- Modlite PL350

HK VP9 Tactical / VP40 Tactical
The VP9 Tactical and VP40 Tactical use longer threaded barrels than the standard VP9 and VP40. Because of the additional length, customers should select the Tactical configuration when it is specifically listed rather than assuming a standard VP9 or VP40 holster will provide the same fit.

Do the HK VP9 and VP40 Fit the Same Holster?
Dara's VP9/VP40 holsters are designed to accommodate both the HK VP9 and VP40. However, this does not mean that every VP9 holster on the market will also fit a VP40.
The VP40 is slightly wider than the VP9. Dara accounted for this dimensional difference when developing our tooling, allowing the same Dara holster body to properly accommodate both pistols where they are listed together.
This compatibility is specific to how Dara developed and tested our VP9/VP40 tooling. A holster from another manufacturer that was designed specifically around the VP9 may not have enough clearance for the slightly wider VP40.
If you are purchasing from another holster manufacturer, do not assume VP9 and VP40 holsters are interchangeable. Confirm VP40 compatibility directly with that manufacturer.
For Dara Holsters, if a product lists VP9/VP40 in the firearm selection or product description, the holster has been designed to accommodate both models.
HK VP9L
The VP9L uses a longer slide and barrel assembly than the standard VP9. Dara offers holsters configured for the VP9L.
Available light-bearing configurations include:
- Streamlight TLR-1 / TLR-1 HL
- Modlite PL350
The VP9L holster can also accommodate the longer HK VP9 Match, with an important difference in muzzle coverage explained below.
Does the HK VP9 Match Fit a Dara Holster?
Yes. The HK VP9 Match will fit Dara's VP9L holster.
However, the VP9 Match has approximately an additional half inch of slide length compared with the VP9L. Because the VP9L holster has an open muzzle end, the additional length of the VP9 Match will protrude through the bottom of the holster.
Dara currently does not manufacture an HK VP9 Match-specific holster that completely covers the muzzle. Customers who choose to use a VP9L holster with a VP9 Match should expect approximately half an inch of the Match model's slide to extend beyond the end of the holster.
This is a known fit option rather than a fully enclosed VP9 Match-specific holster.
HK VP9SK
Dara also supports the HK VP9SK. Because the VP9SK uses different dimensions from the full-size VP9 family, select the VP9SK specifically when ordering.

What About the HK VP9A1 Series?
Dara Holsters has not confirmed holster compatibility for the HK VP9A1 series.
HK made several changes to the VP platform with the introduction of the A1 series. Because holster fit depends on the external dimensions and geometry of the firearm, Dara does not assume that an A1 pistol will fit an existing VP9 holster based on the VP9 name alone.
This includes A1 configurations such as:
- VP9A1 F – Full Size
- VP9A1 K – Compact
- VP9A1 X – Crossover
- VP9A1 L – Long Slide
- VP9A1 M – Match
- Tactical versions of VP9A1 models
Until Dara has physically fit-tested a specific VP9A1 configuration and confirmed compatibility, VP9A1 fit with existing Dara VP9 holsters should be considered unconfirmed.
Do not order a standard VP9, VP9SK, VP9L or other VP-series holster for a VP9A1 based solely on the corresponding model name.
HK Pistols with Rail-Mounted Compensators
Dara Holsters cannot accommodate HK pistols equipped with rail-mounted compensators.
A rail-mounted compensator attaches to or interfaces with the pistol's accessory rail and changes the external dimensions of the firearm in an area that directly affects holster fit.
If your HK pistol has a rail-mounted compensator, do not order a standard Dara HK holster expecting the compensator to fit.
Other aftermarket components that substantially alter the exterior dimensions of the firearm may also affect fit. Dara cannot guarantee compatibility with modified configurations unless they have been specifically tested.
HK USP 9 / USP 40 Holster Compatibility
Dara currently supports select full-size HK USP pistols in 9mm and .40 S&W.

Other USP calibers, compact models and specialized USP configurations should not be assumed compatible unless they are specifically listed in the firearm selection menu.
HK P30 Holster Compatibility
Dara offers holster support for select pistols in the HK P30 family:
- HK P30
- HK P30L
- HK P30SK
The P30, P30L and P30SK have different dimensions. Select the exact model listed when configuring your holster.
HK Weapon Light Compatibility
Light-bearing holsters are designed around the combination of the firearm and the specific weapon-mounted light. A holster made for one light should not be assumed to work with another light, even when both lights attach to the same HK pistol.
Dara currently offers select HK configurations for lights including:
- Streamlight TLR-1
- Streamlight TLR-1 HL
- SureFire X300U-B
- Modlite PL350
Available lights vary by HK model. Refer to the firearm and light selections on the individual holster product page for currently available combinations.
Are Dara HK Holsters Optics Ready?
Optics compatibility depends on the Dara holster being selected. Current Dara holster designs accommodate pistol-mounted optics where specified on the individual product page.
If your HK uses an unusual optic, mounting system or another component that significantly changes the dimensions of the pistol, contact Dara before ordering.
Can I Use a Dara Holster with a Modified HK Pistol?
Not necessarily. Holster compatibility is based on the firearm configuration Dara used when developing and testing the holster.
Modifications that change the external dimensions of the pistol can affect fit. Pay particular attention to:
- Rail-mounted compensators
- Aftermarket frames
- Oversized controls
- Non-standard weapon-mounted lights
- Other accessories that alter the exterior profile of the firearm

HK Holster Fit FAQ
Does the HK VP9 fit the same holster as the VP9 Tactical?
Do not assume the standard VP9 and VP9 Tactical are interchangeable. The VP9 Tactical has a longer threaded barrel. Select the exact firearm configuration listed for the Dara holster.
Does the HK VP9 Match fit a VP9L holster?
Yes. The HK VP9 Match fits Dara's VP9L holster. Because the Match has approximately an additional half inch of slide length, that portion of the slide will protrude through the open muzzle end of the VP9L holster. Dara does not currently manufacture a VP9 Match holster that completely covers the muzzle.
Does Dara make a dedicated HK VP9 Match holster?
No. The VP9 Match can be carried in Dara's VP9L holster, but Dara does not currently manufacture a Match-specific holster body that completely covers the longer muzzle.
Does the HK VP9A1 fit a VP9 holster?
Dara has not confirmed VP9A1 compatibility with existing VP9 holsters. Until a specific A1 configuration has been physically fit-tested, compatibility should be considered unconfirmed.
Will an HK pistol with a rail-mounted compensator fit a Dara holster?
No. Dara does not accommodate HK pistols equipped with rail-mounted compensators.
Can I use a different weapon light with my light-bearing HK holster?
Do not assume different weapon lights are interchangeable. Light-bearing holsters are developed around specific firearm and light combinations. Select the exact weapon-mounted light listed when ordering.
Does Dara make holsters for the HK USP?
Yes. Dara currently supports select full-size HK USP pistols in 9mm and .40 S&W. Other USP configurations should only be ordered if specifically listed.
Does Dara make holsters for the HK P30?
Yes. Dara supports select P30, P30L and P30SK configurations.
How do I know if Dara supports my exact HK pistol?
The firearm selection menu on the individual Dara holster product page should be treated as the current compatibility list. If your exact HK model or configuration is not listed, contact Dara Holsters before ordering rather than selecting the closest model.
