Dara Holsters manufactures Shadow Systems holsters specifically for supported Shadow Systems pistol frames, including the DR920, DR920L, DR920P, MR920, MR920L, MR920P, XR920 and XR920P. Available configurations include concealed carry, OWB, competition and Level 2 retention holsters, with light-bearing options available for select firearm and weapon-light combinations.
Shadow Systems pistols share some characteristics with other polymer-frame handgun platforms, but holster compatibility should not be determined by appearance or general platform similarity. Dara uses the actual Shadow Systems firearm dimensions when developing our holsters so the trigger guard, frame, slide and retention points are properly supported.

Shadow Systems Pistol Models
The Shadow Systems 920 family includes compact, crossover, full-size, long-slide and compensated configurations. Understanding the differences between these models is important when selecting a holster because changes to the frame, slide length, barrel length and compensator configuration can affect fit.

Shadow Systems Model Families Explained
Shadow Systems MR920
The Shadow Systems MR920 is the compact, multi-role member of the 920 family. It uses a 4" barrel and a compact frame with a standard capacity of 15+1. Its shorter grip and slide make it one of the more compact models in the Shadow Systems 920 lineup.
Shadow Systems MR920L
The MR920L combines the compact MR920-style frame with a longer slide and barrel configuration. Because slide length affects the overall length of the firearm, an MR920 and MR920L should not automatically be treated as identical when selecting a holster.
Shadow Systems MR920P
The MR920P is the compensated member of the compact MR family. Its compensator changes the overall top-end configuration of the firearm, making exact model selection important when ordering a holster.
Shadow Systems XR920
The Shadow Systems XR920 is a crossover configuration that combines a full-size grip frame with a compact top end. This gives the XR920 a standard 17+1 capacity while maintaining a shorter slide and barrel configuration than the full-size DR920.
Shadow Systems XR920P
The XR920P is a compensated crossover configuration. Like the XR920, it combines a full-size grip with a more compact top end, while adding a compensated barrel and slide configuration. The compensator changes the external dimensions relevant to holster fit.
Shadow Systems DR920
The Shadow Systems DR920 is the full-size duty-role pistol in the 920 family. It uses a 4.5" barrel and full-size frame with a standard capacity of 17+1. Its larger frame and longer slide distinguish it from the compact MR920 and crossover XR920.
Shadow Systems DR920L
The DR920L uses the same full-size frame as the DR920 but adds a longer top end and 5.3" barrel. The additional slide and barrel length makes the DR920L one of the longest configurations in the Shadow Systems 920 family.
Shadow Systems DR920P
The DR920P is the compensated full-size configuration in the DR family. Because the compensator changes the overall length and muzzle configuration of the firearm, the DR920P should be selected specifically when ordering a compatible holster.
Do Shadow Systems Pistols Fit Glock or Polymer80 Holsters?
Dara does not treat Shadow Systems frames as interchangeable with Glock, Polymer80 or other polymer-frame pistols for holster fit. If you are ordering a Dara holster for a Shadow Systems firearm, select the corresponding Shadow Systems model.
This is based on our own holster development and fit testing. When Dara originally tested the Shadow Systems XR920 in a Glock 19 holster, we found additional space around the front of the trigger guard. The firearm did not seat and engage the holster in the same way we expect from a properly fitted holster.
For that reason, Dara developed dedicated Shadow Systems holster tooling using the actual Shadow Systems firearms rather than relying on Glock-pattern or other polymer-frame holster compatibility.
A Shadow Systems frame should be ordered for a Shadow Systems-specific Dara holster. Do not order a Glock, Polymer80 or other polymer-frame holster and assume the Shadow Systems pistol will fit correctly.
Shadow Systems Light-Bearing Holster Compatibility
Dara currently supports several Shadow Systems models with the Streamlight TLR-1 / TLR-1 HL. Light-bearing holsters are made around the combination of the firearm and weapon-mounted light, so both selections are important for proper fit.

Why Dara Uses Shadow Systems-Specific Holster Tooling
Holster fit depends on more than barrel length. The dimensions and geometry of the trigger guard, frame, slide, dust cover and accessory rail can influence how a firearm seats in a thermoformed holster and how the retention system engages.
Dara's Shadow Systems holsters are developed around the actual supported Shadow Systems firearm rather than assuming compatibility based on another pistol with similar dimensions. This allows us to control the fit and retention around the firearm configuration the holster was designed for.

Shadow Systems Holster FAQ
Do Shadow Systems pistols fit Glock holsters?
Dara does not recommend assuming Glock holster compatibility for a Shadow Systems pistol. During our own fit testing, an XR920 placed into a Glock 19 holster showed additional space around the trigger guard and did not seat the way we require for a properly fitted Dara holster. Dara therefore manufactures dedicated holsters for supported Shadow Systems models.
Will a Shadow Systems pistol fit a Polymer80 holster?
No compatibility should be assumed. Dara treats Shadow Systems and Polymer80 as separate firearm frames. If you have a Shadow Systems pistol, order the corresponding Shadow Systems holster option rather than selecting Polymer80.
Which Shadow Systems pistols does Dara make holsters for?
