OWB Paddle Holster

The Dara OWB Paddle Holster is designed for shooters who want a secure, firearm-specific outside-the-waistband holster that can be put on and removed without taking off the belt. Each holster is built around the selected handgun, providing consistent fit, adjustable retention and the convenience of an easy on/off paddle attachment.

This holster is a practical option for everyday OWB carry, range use and anyone who regularly needs to remove and reinstall their holster throughout the day.

Easy On, Easy Off Paddle Attachment

The main advantage of a paddle holster is convenience. Unlike OWB belt-loop attachments that require the belt to be removed or unthreaded, the Dara Paddle allows the complete holster to be installed or removed while the belt stays in place.

Our paddle is intentionally smaller than many traditional industry-standard paddle attachments. Dara designed the attachment with a compact profile that allows the holster to ride tighter to the belt and closer to the body rather than relying on an oversized paddle behind the belt.

The Dara Paddle is designed for 1.5" to 1.75" EDC belts, creating a secure interface between the holster, belt and body while maintaining the quick-removal advantage of a paddle holster.

Built Around Your Firearm

The Dara OWB Paddle Holster is not a universal pistol holster. Each holster body is manufactured around the selected firearm using firearm-specific tooling.

Differences in the slide, frame, trigger guard, barrel length and other firearm dimensions can affect holster fit and retention. Building the holster around the selected handgun allows Dara to control how the firearm seats, retains and draws from the holster.

This gives you the convenience of a paddle attachment without sacrificing the firearm-specific construction of the holster itself.

Adjustable Retention

The OWB Paddle Holster includes adjustable retention, allowing the user to increase or decrease draw resistance based on personal preference.

Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all retention setting, the holster can be adjusted to achieve the draw resistance that works best for the individual user.

Optics Ready With a Taller Sight Channel

Every Dara OWB Paddle Holster is optics ready and designed to accommodate most common slide-mounted red-dot sights.

The holster also features a taller sight channel accommodating sights up to .5" tall, providing clearance for many suppressor-height and co-witness sight configurations.

For firearms using an optic positioned farther forward on the slide, such as certain Trijicon SRO or RMR HD configurations, select the appropriate deeper optic cut when available.

Dara Proprietary Attachment Pattern

Although this holster comes standard with the Dara Paddle Attachment only, the holster body retains Dara's proprietary attachment hole pattern.

This means choosing the Paddle Holster does not permanently limit the holster body to a paddle. The same mounting pattern allows the holster to accept applicable Dara attachments and mounting systems if your setup changes later.

Need to use a third-party mounting system? Dara's proprietary hole pattern is not designed to directly mount to most third-party attachments. Use The Bridge™ Adapter to connect compatible Dara holsters with supported third-party attachment systems.

Why Choose an OWB Paddle Holster?

A paddle holster is a good choice when easy installation and removal are priorities. It provides the accessibility and comfort of an outside-the-waistband holster without requiring the user to thread the holster attachment onto the belt every time it is installed.

This makes the Dara OWB Paddle Holster particularly useful for shooters who:

  • Want an easy on/off OWB holster
  • Regularly remove and reinstall their holster
  • Want a firearm-specific holster rather than a universal fit
  • Prefer a compact paddle that keeps the holster closer to the body
  • Use their holster for everyday OWB carry or range use
  • Want adjustable retention
  • Carry an optic-equipped handgun
  • Use suppressor-height or co-witness sights up to .5" tall
  • Want the ability to use other Dara attachments in the future

A Smaller Paddle Designed to Ride Closer

Not all paddle attachments are designed the same way. Many traditional paddle holsters use a relatively large attachment behind the belt to create stability.

Dara took a different approach.

Our paddle uses a smaller, purpose-designed profile that positions the holster tighter against the belt and closer to the body. This reduces unnecessary bulk while still providing the easy on/off functionality that makes a paddle holster convenient.

For someone comparing OWB paddle holsters, this is an important distinction: the Dara Paddle is not simply a large generic paddle attached to a firearm-specific holster. The attachment itself was designed by Dara around the way we wanted the holster to sit against the belt and body.

Pair Your Paddle Holster With an EDC Belt

The belt is an important part of any OWB holster setup. The Dara Paddle is designed for 1.5" to 1.75" EDC belts, allowing the attachment to maintain a close, secure interface with the belt and body.

Who Is the Dara OWB Paddle Holster For?

The Dara OWB Paddle Holster is best suited for someone looking for a firearm-specific OWB holster that is quick to put on and remove. It combines adjustable retention, optics compatibility and a tall sight channel with a compact paddle attachment designed to keep the holster close to the body.

It is especially useful when you want the convenience of a paddle holster without giving up the fit and adaptability of a purpose-built Dara holster body.

If your mounting needs change later, the Dara proprietary attachment pattern allows the holster to accept applicable Dara attachments. For supported third-party mounting hardware, use The Bridge™ Adapter.

  • OWB Paddle Holster- APX 5

Posted by Matt on Sep 26, 2017

Top notch holster, the fit and finish on the Kydex is outstanding. One of the few companies I found offering holsters for the Beretta APX. Dara will get my business again.

  • Owb kydex holster 5

So glad I found Dara holsters. After searching the net extensively for quality product to go with my new G17, I found you all here. It is a fine quality holster and the paddle system works simple and easy, even moreso than my other paddle system. I got mine with the leather texture which is a nice detail without being chintzy. Actually, Dara offers solutions for holstering a few other weapons I have as well. I will be placing future orders.

  • ONE Kydex Holster 5

Posted by David K. on Aug 23, 2017

This is a great holster. The fit and finish are top notch, and the attention to detail is obvious. Melonite finish on metal parts and rubber washers are just two examples of the thoughtful design features of this holster. The holster rides at the right height for draw and full concealment. It holds my gun securely, yet allows for a quick and smooth draw. The holster holds the gun close to your side for concealed carry. The adjustable retention is nice, though DARA had the retentioned adjusted just right out of the box. Great holster at a fair price.

Fit and finish is superb, and I love the options for customization. Fits my XD like a glove, and has held up great through several training classes so far.

Top notch quality and a perfect fit.

  • Perfect angle from body. 5

Posted by BeJa Hopson on Feb 15, 2017

These holsters hold your pistol at the perfect angle from your body. Most holsters make the pistol angled toward you. But the design of the paddle seems to make it stand straight up. Worth every penny. Customer service is very helpful also. Made a slight change to my order and it was no problem and easy to do.

  • Excellent 5

Best concealed carry holster I have ever had. Tried all the big names in my 30+ years in LE and this is the best. You can customize it to your desires.

  • OUTSTANDING! 5

Needed a custom holder for my Sig 227 with TLR-4 light. Placed the order with all my specs. Took a while to complete but when I received it, it was perfect! Could not ask for more.

  • Another beautiful work of art 5

Dara comes through again! The workmanship, fit and finish are Class A+++

  • At last, an OWB for a Micro 380 that fits and works! 5

Posted by Bob Dassel on Nov 11, 2016

I looked long and hard for an paddle holster for my micro 380. None of the holsters i had seemed to do the trick, and I was thrilled to get my Dara holster and give it a test run. Fit was excellent, and retention was very good for this type of pistol. The carry options far exceeded my expectations, and the quality of the product is superb. I can hardly wait to get my next custom holster for a S&W Governor to try it out. Both pistols were odd sizes, but paddle holsters for each one were not readily available from other manufacturers. Keep up the great work!
