OWB Holster for Glock 17

The Dara OWB Holster for Glock 17 is a firearm-specific outside-the-waistband holster built for secure belt carry, range use and everyday OWB carry. The holster is formed around Dara's Glock-specific tooling to follow the dimensions of the Glock 17 while providing adjustable passive retention and a consistent draw.

Manufactured from rigid .093" Kydex/Boltaron, the holster maintains its shape and provides coverage of the trigger guard and magazine release. Blackened stainless steel hardware provides corrosion resistance and durability for regular use.

Each Glock 17 OWB holster is individually test fit and draw-weight tested before shipment. The adjustable retention system allows the user to fine-tune the resistance on the pistol while maintaining a positive retention point when the firearm is fully seated.

Glock 17 Holster Compatibility

The Glock 17 belongs to Dara's broader standard-frame Glock holster family. Several Glock models share the same basic holster-body geometry, while differences in slide length determine the required overall holster length.

Within the Gen 3-4 Glock family, the following models share the same Dara holster body and length:

• Glock 17 Gen 3-4
• Glock 22 Gen 3-4
• Glock 31 Gen 3-4

These pistols are also part of a broader Gen 2-4 holster-body family that includes the Glock 26, 27, 33, 19, 23, 32, 17, 22, 31, 24 and 34. The primary difference between many of these models from a holster standpoint is slide and overall holster length.

Within Dara's corresponding current-generation fit family, the Glock 17 and Glock 47 share the same holster body and length.

Generation should still be selected correctly. When Glock introduced the Gen 5, Dara identified small dimensional changes from Gen 4 pistols that affected fit in a closely formed holster. These differences helped drive Dara's decision to produce our own firearm-specific molds rather than relying on generic third-party molding forms.

Optics Ready Glock 17 OWB Holster

This Glock 17 OWB holster comes standard with an optic cut and a sight channel capable of accommodating sights up to approximately .5" tall, including many suppressor-height and co-witness sights.

Forward-positioned optics such as the Trijicon SRO and RMR HD require a deeper optic cut. Select the corresponding option when ordering if your Glock 17 uses one of these optics.

Adjustable Retention

The Glock 17 is secured using Dara's adjustable passive retention system. Retention can be increased or decreased to change the resistance encountered during the draw.

This OWB holster uses passive retention and should not be confused with Dara's active-retention Level 2 Duty Holster. Users who require a secondary active retention device should select the appropriate Level 2 holster.

Adjustable Belt Fit, Cant & Ride Height

Dara offers multiple attachment configurations for the Glock 17 OWB Holster. With the Quick Loop attachment, the holster can accommodate 1.5", 1.75", 2" and 2.25" belts and can be adjusted to -30°, -15°, 0°, 15° or 30° of cant.

This allows the user to configure the position of the Glock 17 around the intended belt, carry position and draw angle rather than being limited to a single fixed mounting position.

This is a non-light-bearing Glock 17 OWB holster. Glock 17 pistols equipped with weapon lights, lasers or other rail-mounted accessories require an appropriate light-bearing holster.

Aftermarket slides, frames, compensators, gas pedals or thumb rests, oversized controls and other components can change the firearm's external dimensions and affect holster compatibility. Dara cannot guarantee fit with aftermarket components that have not been evaluated with the holster.

If your Glock 17 has a compensator that remains within the original slide/frame profile, compatibility may depend on the compensator dimensions and available muzzle clearance. Contact Dara before ordering if you are unsure about a modified firearm.

Polymer80 and Shadow Systems pistols are not considered interchangeable with OEM Glock pistols for Dara holster selection. Select a holster manufactured for the actual firearm platform.
