Best Holster Attachments for Duty Use: A Professional Guide from Dara Holsters
Posted by Dara Holsters on Jul 07, 2026
Here at Dara, we've been making holsters and attachments for duty since 2013.
When it comes to duty gear, your holster is only as reliable as the attachment securing it to your belt. While firearm retention often gets the spotlight, the mounting system is what keeps your duty weapon stable, accessible, and secure through every shift, training day, and high-stress encounter.
At Dara Holsters, we've spent years designing and manufacturing duty holsters for law enforcement, military personnel and armed professionals. We've seen firsthand how attachment selection affects draw speed, weapon stability, comfort, and long-term durability.
Here are the four duty rated holster attachments we recommend and why each has earned its place on a professional duty belt.
1. DBL2-L

For many officers, the DBL2-L offers the ideal balance between adjustability and stability.
Rather than positioning the pistol directly on the belt line, the DBL2-L offer two ride heights that lowers the holster slightly while offsetting it away from the body. This creates additional clearance around body armor, external carriers, heavy jackets, and other duty equipment.
Unlike traditional drop attachments, the DBL2-L is a belt slide and drop all-in-one. Made from 6061 T6 Aluminum, the DBL2-L is the strong belt attachent on the market.

Best For
- Uniformed patrol officers
- Tactical teams
- Military personnel
- Competition shooters using duty-style gear
- Officers wearing external body armor
Advantages
- Improved clearance around body armor
- Positions holster lower for a more natural draw stroke
- Excellent rigidity
- Adjustable Cant Angle
- Adjustable Ride Height
For many professionals, the DBL2-L represents the sweet spot between traditional belt-mounted holsters and full drop-leg systems.
2. DBL2

Sometimes, simplicity is the strongest option.
The DBL2 has a similar profile design to the DBL2-L, but positions the holster higher on the belt line and does not offer adjustable ride height.
Its straightforward design also reduces potential failure points, making it an excellent long-term duty solution.
Machined out of 6061 T6 Aluminum, this all-in-one belt attachment and drop is a favorite amongst officer who prefer their holsters higher up on the belt line.

Best For
- Patrol officers
- Corrections officers
- Security professionals
- Plain uniform duty
- Daily carry on duty belts
Advantages
- Adjustable cant angle
- Extremely stable platform
- Close-to-body positioning
- Higher Ride Height
For professionals who prefer a traditional belt-mounted setup, it's difficult to beat the rigidity & reliability of the DBL2.

3. ALQD System
Modern duty equipment often needs to adapt to changing assignments.
The ALQD Quick Disconnect System allows officers to remove or swap holsters without rebuilding their entire belt setup.
Whether transitioning between training and patrol, switching firearm platforms, or moving equipment between multiple belts, the ALQD system dramatically reduces setup time while maintaining a secure lockup during use.
A properly engineered quick disconnect should never compromise stability. Dara's ALQD system is designed to auto lock and secure the holster while providing rapid attachment and removal whenever mission requirements change.
For agencies issuing multiple firearm configurations—or officers maintaining separate duty and training belts, the ALQD system provides exceptional versatility.

Best For
- Firearms instructors
- SWAT operators
- Officers with multiple duty setups
- Agencies using multiple firearm platforms
- Training environments
Advantages
- Fast holster changes
- Secure locking interface
- Minimal downtime between setups
- Compatible with multiple DARA attachment systems
- Excellent for equipment flexibility
The ability to reconfigure equipment quickly without sacrificing security makes the ALQD System one of the most practical upgrades available for professional users.

4. Drop Offset

Our Drop Offset Attachment is our original duty holster attachment.
The Drop offset attachment can be used with our Double Loop belt slide or our Quick Loop attachment, to drop and offset the duty holster low enough to clear body armor.
The cant angle is adjustable on both the belt attachment, as well as the drop attachment piece.

Best For
- Officers using one belt for duty
Advantages
- Cant Angle Adjustment
- Quick Loop makes for easy on/off mounting
- Very secure on the belt
- Inexpensive drop solution
Choosing the Right Duty Attachment
No single attachment is ideal for every professional.
The best choice depends on your assignment, equipment, body armor, agency policy, and personal preferences.
As a general guideline:
- Choose the DBL2-L if you favor rigidity, adjustability and want a lower riding holster.
- Choose the DBL2 if you favor a more traditional ride height and want the most dependable attachment.
- Choose the Quick Disconnect Attachment if you frequently swap holsters or operate multiple belt configurations.
- Choose the Double Loop or Quick Loop + Drop Offset if you want stability & adjustability without breaking the bank.
Each attachment serves a distinct purpose, and many professionals combine multiple accessories to build a duty setup tailored to their operational needs.
Built for Professionals
Duty equipment is subjected to constant abuse. Long shifts, vehicle entries, physical confrontations, environmental exposure, and thousands of practice repetitions all place enormous demands on a holster system.
That's why every component matters, not just the holster itself, but the attachment supporting it.
At Dara Holsters, our attachment systems are engineered with the same standards as our duty holsters: uncompromising durability, dependability and performance under real-world conditions. Every design decision is made with the needs of law enforcement officers, military personnel and armed professionals in mind.
A quality holster deserves an equally capable mounting system. Choosing the right attachment ensures your sidearm remains secure, accessible, and ready when every second counts.
